As a chiropractor in the warm-up room for these athletes, I was amazed by the incredible strength and determination displayed at the IPF World Powerlifting Championships! This even was in Aurora, CO in November of 2014.
Powerlifting is a competitive strength sport that focuses on three main lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift. Athletes compete in different weight categories and strive to lift the heaviest weights possible in each lift. It’s all about pushing your limits and showcasing your raw power!
At the IPF World Powerlifting Championships, you’ll witness some of the strongest individuals from around the globe battling it out for glory. From jaw-dropping squats that defy gravity to mind-boggling deadlifts that seem impossible, this event is a true testament to human strength.
But with great power comes great responsibility, and unfortunately, injuries can occur in such an intense sport. Some of the most common injuries in powerlifting include strains or tears in muscles like hamstrings or lower back, as well as joint issues like shoulder or knee problems.
